About

Unwooded Chardonnay wine displaying a rich nose. A bit of spritz on the palate, ripe, full fruit with some sweetness. Needs to be well chilled to be refreshing. A cult following.
The Mad Fish story begins in the far southern reaches of Western Australia where 15 kilometres from the quiet coastal town of Denmark is the picturesque Mad Fish Bay. According to local folklore, the bay's tranquillity is broken when two tides meet, resulting in schools of small fish going mad…. Jumping about to avoid being gobbled up by hungry, larger fish.

Review

2007: "Pale straw with green highlights. Vivid lime and green apple aromas are complemented by quinine and white flowers. Light in body but with palate-staining intensity to the citrus flavors. A clean, focused, rather stylish chardonnay with a late note of anise and good finishing lift and cut. $15"
88 Points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Jul/Aug 2008.

2005: "Aromas of stonefruit, lemon, almond meal and some smoky barrel ferment characters. On the palate mouthfilling stonefruit, citrus and honey almond with some savoury lees characters. It is juicy and fruity yet still retains a sense of refinement and elegance. Clean fresh acidity and a fruity yet crisp finish. A wine with such a sunny cheerful disposition you can't help but love it."
