About
Viña Tabalí is the new flagship winery from Viña San Pedro. At 30°29' latitude South, Limarí is currently Chile's northernmost wine-producing region, although this is likely to change quickly as pioneering wine-makers continue push to northward in search of new viticultural frontier.
Despite its northern location (and thus closer to the equator) with its semi-arid, Mediterranean climate and high summer temperatures, the Limarí Valley is indeed an oasis for the production of fine wines.
Burgundian in style, Tabali's Chardonnay has long been one of our favorite Chilean whites. This is another example of the positive effect Limari's limestone soil has on the region's wines. Cooling breezes from the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean provide the grapes with a balanced acidity you rarely see in Chilean Chardonnay. The wine is fermented and aged in a combination on new and used French Oak, and bottled after 10 months.

Review
- 91 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2009
"The 2008 Chardonnay Reserva Especial shows off the potential for Chardonnay in Limari. It delivers Cote de Beaune like aromatics of mineral, toast, white fruits, and hazel nut. Elegant, intense, with lively natural acidity, this lengthy effort may well evolve for 1-2 years and can be enjoyed through 2014. $18 - JM"
