About

After only three vintages Enrico Santini has made a name for himself as one of the most dynamic and respected new producers in Bolgheri. In the midst of Bolgheri's larger estates, Santini is a true "garagiste" in the region, with only 13 hectares of vineyards and having transformed his garage and the basement of his home to a winery. A native of Bolgheri, from the village of Castagneto Carducci, he produces limited quantities of blends from separately vinified varietals. All the wines come from his own organically farmed estate vineyards.
Only 1,200 cases have been produced of this blend of four separate varieties: 40% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 10% Merlot. The grapes were vinified separately with a prolonged maceration of 3 to 4 weeks. Fermentation was temperature controlled and the wine remained in small French Barrels for approximately 3 months.

Review

2008: 91 Points
“The 2008 Poggio al Moro is a pretty, vibrant red laced with dark fruit, licorice and leather. It offers good depth and richness backed up by firm tannins that give freshness and substance to the finish. Crushed flowers, mocha and espresso add the further shades of nuance. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020. $25” Wine Advocate, Issue #196
