About
Bottleneck is thrilled to offer our 2009
We apleased to provide Utah Resturanteurs the inside track on the latest releases from one of the Russian River Valley's star producers, Walter Hansel and only recently been 'discovered' by Robert Parker, and demand has escalated considerably. With Utah's Small Winery Pricing make these truly spectacular values.
One of northern California's "good guys" is Stephen Hansel, who fashions top- quality Burgundian-styled Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. Cara Schwint, Stein Eriksen Lodge, first brought these wines to my attention, and Hansel is one of my reference point visits in the North Coast. Hansel founded the winery in 1978 and now owns 80 acres under vine. These are all noteworthy cuvees that remain somewhat under the radar. Moreover, prices remain unbelievably fair for wines of such quality. The Chardonnays all possess wonderful textures…and good aging potential.

Review
- 90-92 Points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, Issue #180
"Beautiful black raspberry and black cherry fruit as well as forest floor jump from the glass of the 2007 Pinot Noir Cahill Lane. Made from Dijon clones 115 and 114, as well as some of the Rochioli heritage clone, this is a full-bodied beauty, with medium ruby/plum color, lots of sweet fruits, and plenty of earthiness in a decidedly Burgundian style, perhaps a Cote de Nuits. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. $35."
