About
Mitolo is a new star on the Australian wine scene. Established in 1999 by Frank and Simone Mitolo, the first wine released was the 2000 GAM. Winemaking duties are carried out by Ben Glaetzer. We are thrilled by these wines and Im sure that they'll soon have cemented their place among the Aussie wine elite due to their combined power and ripeness with impeccable balance.
The Jester Shiraz is made from younger sections of the vineyard, this up-front wine is matured in older oak barrels and bottled with a screwcap. It has a ripe, supersweet liquoricey, aromatic nose with lots of ripe fruit. The palate is sweet, rich, ripe and showy. Very expressive and utterly delicious.
The Mitolo winemaking philosophy is to deliver wines that express purity of varietal flavour, show elegance of structure with soft tannins whilst being rich, powerful and complex. From vineyard sourcing to high quality winemaking techniques, the wines are handcrafted to ensure the individual nuances of the vineyard and variety is maintained.
Mitolo has received outstanding reviews such as "One of the most brilliant Australian winemaking operations to emerge over the last five years..." Robert Parker Jr, and "Another new winery predestined for success..." James Halliday.

Review
2009: 94 Points “Dense purple-crimson; the wine is all about controlled power, the fist in a velvet glove; the medium- to full-bodied palate rolls black fruits, a touch of licorice and a generous dash of dark chocolate into a seamless whole; you know the tannins and oak are there, but no more. $28.” James Halliday’s, Australian Wine Companion, Aug 2011
