About
Mario Schiopetto founded this legendary estate in 1965, making it one of the oldest wine estates in the prestigious Collio area. More importantly, Schiopetto pioneered the movement towards serious, quality wine making in Friuli, and the estate, now run by Mario's three children, continues to set the standard for the region.
Tocai Friulanois an historic vine of Collio Goriziano cultivated in a ventilated hilly area, in soils of Eocene origin, mostly marly. The manual harvest and the soft pressing are followed by a brief period of aeration with no presence of sulfur dioxide. This wine that remains on its yeast for 8 months develops a straw-yellow color with greenish reflections. The wine develops a delicate bouquet with characteristic almond and field flower scents as well as pear accents. Dry, aromatic with an elegant almond background, it offers good body and persistence

Review
"Aromas of peach stone, light honey and lemon. Full-bodied, with mineral, white pepper, flint and ripe peach. Long and flavorful. This irisp, superclean wine, with loads of character and finesse. Stylish. Drink now." 92 Points, Wine Spectator Insider, November 28, 2007
In the words of Robert Parker: "A brilliant producer, Schiopetto is the reference point for justhow flavorful, perfumed, and compelling dry whites from Friuli can be. Mario Schiopetto continues to satiate the olfactory senses and palate with his extraordinary offerings. While not cheap, they are the most compelling tank-fermented and aged dry whites in northeastern Italy. Possessing abundant flavors that build incrementally in the mouth, they are dazzling wines that I can't recommend highly enough."
