About
Domaine Andézon is a 25-acre property in Estézargues, a small village on the western edge of the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation, close to Lirac and Tavel. The floor of the organically-farmed Andezon vineyard is blanketed in large, round stones like those found in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The estate has been in the Lamouroux family for more than thirty years and is now run by the children of the original brother-owners. They carry on their fathers' traditions and adhere to the family's mantra: "It is by the work of the ground that one arrives at quality."
The family takes their work in the vineyards very seriously and, admirably, have managed to keep their prices unbelievably low for the low-yielding, 80+ year-old Syrah they cultivate.
Until 1994, this wine was sold to Marcel Guigal, but importer Eric Solomon stepped in and started bottling his own selection, without filtration, under the Domaine Andezon name.

2010: 92 Points, "Easily the best vintage of this to date, the 2010 Les Vignerons d'Estézargues Côtes du Rhône Domaine d'Andézon is a tank and cement aged blend of 90% Syrah and 10% Grenache. Sporting a deep purple color as well as fantastically good aromas of pure blackberry, licorice, lavender, crushed flowers, and wet stone-like minerality on the nose. Very pure and clean, with superb richness and complexity, the wine is medium to full-bodied and beautifully textured on the palate, possessing a full, rich mid-palate, excellent balance, juicy acidity, and ripe tannin on the finish that adds additional cut and edge to all the fruit.
