WEBSITE:

1+1=3 is one of the few wine growing estates in the Penedes that exclusively bottles its own production. At present, 20 hectares are planted with a variety of local and French grapes. Immense care is taken over the grape selection at full maturity. Aging in vats or casks, according to the wine. Picking by hand, followed by a severe selection of only the healthiest and ripest grapes. Grape varieties are fermented separately. Also grapes originating from different parcels with varying exposure and age of vines are treated apart in order to keep all thecharacter of the 'terroir'. Meticulous care is taken over the vineyards as well as the vinification and aging in new French oak casks from top barrel makers. The result is a range of delicious, beautifully made red and white wines with the emphasis on finesse, elegance and a perfect balance. In short, these wines feel as if they have been handcrafted. Grapes: 50% Xarel-lo, 26% Macabeo and 24% Parellada This Cava was bottling in April 2001, using yeast from Oenologist Institute of Champagne. The second fermentation took three months in bottle, at 57ºF. Aged in the bottle for 16 months before disgorging. Dosage added (8g/liter)

AWARDS and ACCLAIMS:

It was aged in bottle 16 months before disgorging. Loaded with fruit, it exhibits a lovely, frothy, crisp, wheat thin end tropical fruit-scented perfume. Tasty, dry, and hedonistic, it is a delicious, pure, inexpensive sparkler to enjoy over the next year...great value? Wine Advocate 89 points issue 152.
